I was on Twitter this weekend and there's a provider that likes lottery tickets as a gift and someone gave her a scratch off and she won some money. Wonder what the right way to handle for example if I gave a provider a ticket that hit for 100k. I know a gift is a gift with no strings attached. But what you do if that was you. Would you keep it all or give some to the person who gave it to you. Not really a correct or wrong answer.

I never once asked for it, but if someone won a good sum of money they would give me 10% of what they won. Sometimes it paid for my whole trip. So although I don’t think it would be appropriate to ask for it, but if they won big on a lotto ticket I would think the same 10% “finders fee” would be nice for them to give to the giver of the ticket. It should never be expected or asked for as it was a gift, but I do believe that would be appropriate.
