Minneapolis city council vote

They voted 12 - 0 to disband the police department.

Minnesota has always been a little different - and Minneapolis is only about 400 miles from Chicago.....but it may as well be light years away.

It's not surprising that a state like Minnesota produced Humbert Humphrey, and he was one of the leaders of progressive civil rights issues. But Minnesota is or was completely different from the tough neighbor - hoods - of the south. Almost 100% white and middle class.

What you experience in life affects your ideas.

Israel always defends its actions by mentioning they live in a tough neighborhood - the Middle East.

Food for thought.

I think most of the time a city the size of this one is saying it will disband the police department normally means it will just start over with it. Kinda of an easier way to clean house.

The council vote doesn’t mean shit yet......

^^^^^Quote......Although the amendment received a 12-0 vote from council members, it faces an uphill battle as it makes its way past a policy committee and to the city’s Charter Commission for a formal review, at which point citizens and city officials can also weigh in.
”If” successful, the amendment will be put on the November ballot for a vote in the general election.

^^^^ If all that is successful.....they deserve what they get.....
