The (unaffordable)HCA will likely cause more Bankruptcies than it prevents‏

Sickpuppy's Avatar
One of the President’s and other liberals’ primary talking points for support of the (U)HCA is that the low-income uninsured NEED THE HCA so they have protection from catastrophic events that would force them into bankruptcy. The irony is the cancellation of millions of existing policies forces the currently insured business owners into the same dilemma. The HCA bankruptcy effect will compound geometrically -- when the uninsured business owner must declare bankruptcy, their employees will not only lose their paycheck; they will join a new much larger group of uninsured Americans.

It was not designed to prevent bankruptcies ..

.... it was designed to insure 11 million people with no insurance.

That's the most important point ... make sure the 11 million get insurance.

Even if they don't want or need insurance.
Even if they don't want to pay 2-3 times the premiums. Even if they don't want to pay 2-3 times the deductible. Even if they used to have 80/20 and now it's 60/40...WTF?
