So now uploading photos is a no go

Everything worked fine before when I changed my avatar pic or showcase photos but now since the "maintenance" my photos now don't work. So why was this changed? If it's not broke don't fix it. Now my photos are supposedly too large and have to manually be resized it reads. I don't know how to do that or have the time to go through all of my photos and try to figure it out. This is very unfriendly for the user, grrr.
