Ignore list question.

I have tried to find the answer but am having trouble doing so. If I put someone on my ignore list can they still send me a pm? and if not, then they are not allowed to get pm's from me correct? or does it only show up as an unread message to them if they are on my ignore list?

I thought it only "ignored" their posts.
