When, where and how to ask for a special request
When asking for special request when is the best time. Before meeting or once your there.
Also where do most prefer these questions asked in a pm email or text
And how do you prefer blunt or beating around the bush.
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ask for it before the meeting.
That way you avoid putting a provider on the spot to do something she doesn't want to do.
Pm or e-mail is always a good way to ask. That way, if it isn't something she wants to do, you can move on and find someone who will.
Being upfront and forward avoids a lot of misunderstand and awkwardness.

Let her know what you are looking for before setting a meeting and if she is comfortable and agrees, set the appointment. Don't ever expect a provider to read your mind, so do not give little hints, just tell her what you want. Some things involved in a session should go without saying, but if you do not spell it out to and for her, in a casual, non demanding way, then it gives the provider a legit out to play the YMMV card on you if she so chooses. When/if you do a review of your session, and she does not follow through, then you can put in your review that you let her know what you wanted and while she agreed, she did not perform and she has no leg to stand on for a rebuke of the review.
Check the girls ads, Showcases and reviews. You should find out their Activities by reading them. And...some girls do not want to be asked about Activities...they state it in their info.
Dont forget you can also post in the ISO forum being specific with what youre looking for.
I don't request activities not on the menu, but I clarify in advance discrepancies from the provider's listed activities that I find in reviews. I want both of us to be comfortable in knowing what to expect.
I may ask for soft music and candles if the provider is known to be an accommodating and exceptional gfe, or for the provider to dress a certain way. Providers don't like surprises.
I have been pleasantly surprised that a few providers have done (without me asking) things to me orally that were not on their menu. They did this because they knew from references what I liked.
Research and prior communication from both parties contribute to great sessions.
I would defer to the two lovely ladies who posted above....what they said.

I very often have special requests. First I find somebody that I think would be a good match for what I'm looking for. I get an idea thru her P411 activities, her reviews, and her posts. I usually send a PM here or a message thru P411 and ask to get screened. I let her know that once I'm screened I'd like to talk about what I'm specifically looking for. I never ask anything specific until given the all clear.
To expand on LA's comments, I know many ladies are not comfortable discussing activities with someone they have not seen. It would seem better to do as he mentioned. Let the provider know you may have a request to discuss once you are screened.
Ladies would that be a good way to broach the subject?
How special is special?
I know a provider would more than likely need prep for Greek. But I don't do greek.
Like Pro stated, I read the reviews to get an idea of what they provide.
When I arrive, I asked for what I like to do based on what I've seen in the reviews.
If they baulk, no prob. I find out what they like to do and are willing to do.
I thought most providers do not like discussing details prior to visit?.?.? If they do, please enlighten me.
