forbidden topics???

fletch's Avatar
i have noticed that there seems to be a lot of required mod review/action of removing <forbidden> topics in the discussions lately (applies to all threads) what is going on??

can't we cut these mods a break? don't they have enough drama to deal with on a regular basis? just sayin' !!

let the bashing begin
Bash? I see no reason for you to be bashed, but I am sure if you go to another realm forum, someone there would be glad to bash you for fun and enjoyment.

I think a lot of people fail to read the rules. Also, the number of forbidden topic activities that seem to be occurring of late has increased. Perhaps this is as more of the BP type ladies and johns join our merry little band. Here I will probably get bashed but the "class" of people playing in our eighborhood has changed. (Note, class is not defined by $$$, but by who you are deep down inside.)

One need only look to the number of BBFS reviews and ISOs to realize that something is different in our fantasy land.

Trolls, multiple handles, etc. all add to the mess. If people figure they can just create a new handle every 3 days as they get banned from their last one, they don't really care what extra work they generate for the mods and admins.

But seriously, If I am reading this right, the owners of this site can make their own rules/guidelines and if you don't want to follow them then get off the site and create your own site and not have any forbidden topics or guidelines. All the mods do is enforce the rules that are handed down to them, they are not suppose to make up rules, nor do they get immunity that the guidelines do not apply to them as well. I think tigercat nailed it with the BP analogy, we are grown adults here, (most of us anyway!), so we should be able to have different opinions on things without telling someone with a different opinion than yours that they are wrong and call them names, and the "agendas" that some guys have are really "stalkerish", which I believe is also against forum guidelines. The mods do have a full plate without all the bickering, name calling and drama, and of course writing about the forbidden topics in the forum guidelines.

i think J.G. Wentworth's post explicity included the "[prohibitied topic removed. - staff]" as a joke.

did you notice the smileys???
also notice he didnt write "removed. <insertNameOfMod>"

in any case, another example of the golden rule.
those with the gold rules!!
Fletch and Tiger,

You all have expressed my observations spot on. I have only returned to the Hobby recently and did enjoy the ol ASPD days. I sometimes feel I am watching my teenagers all over again when entering the site. Don't get me wrong, the ASPD days had their drama moments and I enjoyed nothing better than taking a bucket of popcorn out and watching it unfold. However, some of the stuff I have read here does cause my stomach to turn. Maybe I am getting to old.

Well the mods should be working hard for all that free pussy they're getting.

a few ways to deal/react to less-than-polite newcomers.

a. put them on your ignore list [doesnt help to stop the next one]
b. suggest they improve their behavior [either via public post or private message]
c. post more positive posts to drown out their "noise"

plus there's always make fun of them, but that doesnt resolve anything.
