There are 3 branches of the federal government. A primary reason for that is checks and balances on power.


The Republicans will have control of both houses of Congress. Mr. Trump is already attempting to usurp any checks and balances on presidential power Congress may have.

Plenty of republicans have been threatened by their own party members with primary battles during the next election if they don’t give in.

Some jackwad in Texas just introduced a bill that would allow the Texas legislature to recall a Senator simply with a majority vote. That’s a threat to the functioning of the federal government and an usurpation of the will of the voters who voted in the Senator.
