Cool! Print ma out a whole AR-15 (or any other gun)

I did not want to hijack CaptainMidnight's thread about 3D printing a whole new car. But this may put an end to the whole gun control debate:

I thought this would be difficult if not impossible because of the severe stresses in a rifle, but it appears materials are getting stronger. I don't think this AT-15 is 100% printed - it isn't clear what the barrel is made from.

But if you can print 90% of any weapon and attach it to a steel tube with rifling inside it, you can pretty much toss out all of the gun control laws.

The folks in this video are going to post the code for 3D printing of weapons on the Internet FOR FREE.

The article speculates that the only way to control guns at that point may be to control the gun powder as a controlled substance.

And aside from the guns themselves, I read recently that it would be fairly easy to 3-D print customized magazines for existing semi-automatic handguns.

Presumably, one could crank out elongated, ultra-high-capacity magazines for 9mm and .45 auto pistols.

Just as various, otherwise wonderful innovations such as the internet have improved our lives and given us fantastic access to information, they've also enabled terrorists and violent criminals of various types to pose even greater threats to our safety.
