Other Hobby Sites

I weaned my hobby teeth on Big Doggie.. Then I learned of ASPD and TER and spent several nice years there.

I also know of Home2 and YMWV, and of course, this site.

But what are some other hobby sites of interest?

Here is a recent list I sent a friend of mine with some descriptions so she would know what is what. The descriptions have been altered to protect... ME!

HERE ARE THE LINKS:

www.MidnightLive.net. – Is a private site setup by a provider named Summer that has Deuce Bigalow as a mod. It is supposed to be more of a provider based site and requires membership that Summer will allow or disallow based upon who you are.

http://www.theotherboard.com – Primarily focused on Colorado but moving into Texas. I beleive this is the follow on to BNI's The Morning After board but I might be mistaken.

http://www.horndogs.info – This site was formed by the group previously on ASPD called the HellRaisers.

http://fairplayreviews.com – This site is primarily focused on Austin and San Antonio with some Houston interest. It was put together by the member of the P named TySteel.

Of the sites you've mentioned, I think Horndogs.info is a good place to get info, and it's run by good people. The owner of HD, MacArthur, and the Curator are both fair guys in my estimation. They also do not disclose info on their membership to 3rd parties, which I think is how a responsible board should be run. You'd be surprised at how many sites so freely share info on their members to 3rd parties without bothering to ask.

I also like the bigdoggie.net site, but wish they had better message board software that could enable us to send private messages and etc.

It's my understanding that the AHC site has been under new ownership (so I was told) since early January. Good luck to them on that.

Don't know much about ML, but I know Deuce is one of the most fair-minded guys around.

While I don't get as many members & posting activity as a site like eccie.net, anyone who wants can feel free to mention this Eccie site over on mine. Same goes for the other boards I've mentioned here such as Horndogs. I don't mind discussion or promotion of other boards, either. My view of it: If someone were to get a little too aggressive in pushing their site, I'm sure the members will call them on it.

You're right, how could I have forgotten about AHC??! It wasn't intentional.

Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't menion TER, BigDoggie since Epi already indicated he was aware of those but thanks to Owner for listing an additional blog since I will give it a look-see.

No probem on the site Ty, I think it is great that all of these are in place now. I certainly like the fact that this site allows for the discussion of other locales because it is good for all who are in this thing to know what is out there.

Lonesome...i would like to respond to something you said about MidnightLive....it is a private paid membership site set up bye two ladies, Summer being one of them. membership is allowed to any provider or hobbiest that has varifiable references. Tysteel is correct in his assesment of Deuce,,,,but at present there are 6 on the admin and moderator staff.

Thank you for pointing that out skeeter but my post was a general statement based upon the information I had at the time from another source, i.e. a blog where Summer had posted information about ML.


It was NOT meant to taken any other way than how I intended but it has come to my attention that it was interpreted other than I had planned. Therefore, in order to clear the air and to set the record straight, after being screeched at by someone on a blog for my post about ML, I will be specific. To the point, here is what I know based upon what Summer wrote:

1. Midnightlive.net is a pay for site with an introductory free 90 day period once you are verified.
2. Verification is done in a variety of ways. You want specifics, contact MidnightLive.net
3. Midnightlive.net was setup by multiple people. Specifically, Summer and Alexis who are business partners.
4. ML is a co-ed site. How someone could read that I wrote it was a provider only site is beyond me but I was informed that they had.
5. Deuce Bigalow is not a mod there and never was. He was, at one time, an Admin but is not on staff there presently.

I regret that others misinterpreted what I wrote and it was not my intention to mislead anyone for any reason. I was just trying to answer Epi’s original question here about other sites which, it seems, some folks don’t like and who can’t read between the lines or be nice in their replies.

Such is life… live and learn.

skeeter, I have no issue with what you posted. You handled it well and did it the way it should have been done in the first place. My reference about folks not being nice was in regards to someone else, not you, so my apologies if I was not clear on that point.
