Sooooooo almost that time again to file taxes... Ugh!! I avoided it last year which was probably not the best idea but hey it happens!!! Any assistance here would be great!!! Thanks guys! Muahh Mariah
I am an independent tax preparer but I haven't done taxes for cash for many years, lol.
I would be happy to offer you or anyone else any free advice on doing it yourselves/walking you through it with taxact.com
I have a friend who worked as a stripper this year and I will be doing her taxes for her.
You should start with Form 1040, Schedule C, Profit or Loss From Business, that amount then goes to Line 12 (I think) of Form 1040. You can list your business as event or meeting coordinator to be discreet; although I have heard of a guy who was a drug dealer who wrote that on the form, paid taxes on his sales and IRS did not care.. But I wouldn't press my luck there.. So I would call myself a meeting/event coordinator.
On Part II of Sched C, you can also deduct your legitimate business expenses: travel, etc. Don't get too outlandish as it may trigger an audit.
Self employment taxes can be calculated on Form 1040, Schedule SE.
