Who will win Best Picture at the Oscars?

Don't worry, politics will be part of the ceremony. We have feminist dribble, LGBT.... dribble, and other woke dribble. We also have Top Gun: Maverick.

So...who do you think will win? The most popular movie of the year or some movie that no one has watched but does check all the blue boxes off?

I suppose I should have added another choice...I don't care.

I'm surprised to see Maverick on the list. I thought the 1st one was corny back then and I was a damn kid. I liked it though then. The sequel is just as corny, and my kids liked it so all I can say is if my spoiled brats liked it, I doubt it's Oscar worthy.

I never pay attention to these award shows, but thanks for the list. I'll have to check out some of these movies. I did plan on watching Avatar but movies by that director James Cameron are so long that it takes me forever to finish them unless I'm on a long plane flight.

top gun maverick and elvis..the only two i've seen

top gun is under fire to have it excluded from consideration

seems a russian had invested in a company that invested in the movie, likely the best reason the left could come up with on short notice because they couldn't just say they hate america

and the msnbc opinion editor has condemned it as the most insidious movie, attempting to portray american military as a "beacon of virtue". he trashed it for showing the american military in a positive light

now elvis..about white people and the white fans of white people... well too many white people to win i think and not just white people but southern white people

dont know anything about the others

but something seems to linger in my subconsciousness that avatar culturally appropriated and was racist satisfying a "white man's savior complex"

I've seen the same three, but I have the Banshees cued up. Maybe I'll watch it today. I really don't care. What does a win mean nowadays? More money? More prestige? An opportunity for some privileged actor to spout nonsense on stage or an opportunity for some non-entity to spout nonsense on the red carpet about said actor. Oh, I know. We get to see the clothes which only really applies to women. Most men still wear the classic tuxedo...except for Billy Porter. Then again, who cares about that idiot.

I'm back...I guess I can't let it go. This is about the BEST picture. Best actor awards are given for great performances but BEST picture...what is the criteria for that? We can look into the past at films like Citizen Kane that we still talk about in terms of acting, writing, and cinematography. Epics like Gone With the Wind (winner) and The Ten Commandments (didn't win). Movies that took us right into the action like Saving Private Ryan (didn't win) or into written literature like Lord of the Rings (Return of the King won).

Ever hear of Parasite? Nomadland? Moonlight? Spotlight? The Departed? Or The Artist? All winners of BEST picture. I've seen one of them.

awards shows are an ego-gratifying vomit mess where their ego is stroked to an obnoxious atmosphere of woke DEI bullshit.

gag, gag, gag!

i haven't seen any of the movies listed. I did see top gun in the 1980s and avatar in the 2010's. also, All quiet on the western front in the 1980s.

Maverick is a navy recruitment tool.

Banshee? If it is the same series i'm thinking about, you should watch the lead actor in The Boys.

Myself, public tele night.

I haven't watch the Oscars ceremonies in 15 years because I don't wish to be proselytized to by leftists.

A room full of over-paid 'celebrities' circle-jerking each other off, no thanks.

Now, if Arnold showed up and "terminated" everyone, well, I'd tune in for that.
I waited until Top Gun Maverick and Elvis finally came to Direct TV.

I thought Austin Butler was great as Elvis. Tom Hanks played “The Colonel” as more of a caricature that a historical figure.

Maverick was just entertaining while being pretty predictable.

I haven’t seen any of the rest.

On the subject I do have a question about Avatar. I saw the first one,

This connection that they made with animals by hooking that thing at the end of their ponytail was anatomically off. Being that this was supposed to be a circuit to the nervous system, would’t it have been much more logical for that connection to be at the end of their tail, which in most animals is an extension of the spinal column.?

And, what if you were bald and didn’t have a ponytail?

Stupid movie anyway.
