I cringe when sending an email to a gmail account. Come January, I won't anymore.

Protonmail is free for light usage. The limits for the free version is sufficient for my hobbying needs.

Ladies may have enough email traffic to require a upgraded account, for a minimal amount. I read on Switter that some have missed email when limits were reached.

Anonymous setup. Personal information is not required during setup. They do not even require a 'backup' email address.

Encrypted. Email and contacts are encrypted. They couldn't share your data with authorities if they wanted to. Based in Switzerland, US laws are not applied. During setup, avoid the .com extension for your address, to avoid the US domain. Use the .ch extension.

iPhone and Android Apps available, or access from the web.

I have heard some ladies having issues when they exceeded 150 messages per day. That is the limit of the free account. Also, storage is limited to 500MB.

Personally, I have not experienced any issues in the several years I have used the service. YMMV
