Scientists studying swingers say they have higher rates of sexually transmitted infections than prostitutes.

Here's my problem with this "study". How do they find out who's a "swinger"? Well, they do the only thing they can do, they ask the person with an STD. So, here's what I imagine that conversation going like between doctor and patient:

Doctor: So, you have an STD and we're doing a study and would like to find out some things about your lifestyle. Did you get this from your wife or permanant partner?
Patient: Oh no, absolutely not.
Doctor: Have you visited any prostitutes in the past year?
Patient: Oh no, absolutely not.
Doctor: Well then, are you a swinger?
Patient: Swinger? ummmm, yeah, that must be it. I'm a swinger, sure.
Actually Warlock, many people are open and honest with their doctor's. There is this thing called patient/doctor confidentiality that the doctor can only break in instances of abuse. So it doesn't matter what you tell the doctor.

Ah, another STD thread.

At least there's hope it will turn out better than assf*ck's posting habits.....
I think - just by some of my exposure - the swinger's lifestyle is much more risky.

Too many uncovered dicks flying....when they decide to have an orgy. The excitement and pressure of the moment make people do stupid things.

I much prefer the hobbying world.

I'm not so sure about the "prostitute" designation tho.
WTF? Are we girls hanging out on Harry Hines.....waiting for 2 bucks so we can stick a needle in our arm?
Whatever.

I'm a PROVIDER.........an ESCORT.....a COMPANION......as are the other girls on this board.

cheers...

I don't find that surprising. If you think about it, swingers swing with the knowledge of their partners (mostly), so contracting an std is not going to casuse the same sort of shock that not being able to explain to your wife how your she got one if you're seeing providers on the sly. Hobbyists have a lot more incentive to take precautions and providers who want to get business from those hobbyists have a lot of incentive to take precautions anf get tested regularly. That doesn't mean everyone does, only that there is at lest some pretty good incentive to do so beyond the std itself.

Interesting study.

Not sure if the European study directly coincides with American, or even Dallas Lifestyle choices.

There are certainly "clicks" within the Lifestyle community. Some enaging in riskier behaviors more than others, and not just "swinging" behaviors.

There are also couples that tend to "date" and other couples that are soft swap only or only looking for unicorns.

End the end, you have to decide what level of activity is OK for you and accept the inherent risk that comes with your choices.

Interesting article, though. Hopefully someone will do a study of Dallas as it has a very strong and vibrant Lifestyle community.
It is all prostitution, so the label doesn't matter.

I'm not sure you can put any stock into a study about STDs as they relate to swingers and prostitutes.

There might be some providers that will let you do BBFS but I don't think that there are that many so this helps with disease control with an escort. I have no knowledge of how street walkers handle business and who knows what the ratio of SW to escorts is.

On the swinger side there are for some reason quite a few guys and girls that have no problem with BBFS. The wife and I have adopted a way of thinking that if anyone even ask us about BBFS we won't even have sex with them. If it is a couple and one mentions BBFS we won't have anything to do with either of them. We only want to have sex with others that think like us and want to only do CFS to protect themselves.

Either way is always a risk but with proper thought and caution one can have some safe fun doing either.

Besides....I only imagine the dicks would be swinging....and not the dollar bills.....ha!

I think there is some validity to the study. Having participated in the swinger lifestyle I can tell you protection is often not used, which is scary.
