Arguable Independent Platform

This was posted by CaptainMidnight at the end of the thread on ideas for improving the economy. I thought it needed a thread of it's own.

I doubt that anyone running on this platform would ever be elected, but it's great food for thought and deserves discussion.

It sounds like the same drival BO sold us....except for the part about raising our taxes. He added that later.

The article is radical , but solid and it doesn't pull any punches.

This country is like a drunken sailor recovering from a hangover of debt.

Most of the ideas are worth considering, but I'm not so sure about the lottery idea.

Sure it would raise voter participation, but would also lower the quality of votes in the process.

We need more people paying attention to the proposals and vote based on who they think can do the most good for the country
and not just show up at the voting both in the hopes of winning the lottery or vote out of fear
like the one shamelessly instilled by Bush/Cheney in the last election.

I agree with you on the lottery. I think they should restrict the vote, not expand it. Maybe make you pass a test before you can vote.

A good question to ask the voter, especially in Florida would be:

Do you know what a hanging chad is?

. . . and would you leave a chad hanging if you saw one?
Question 4: Are you a legal US citizen?; and please show proof.

Funny how the lefties are reverting to the Jim Crow days of literacy tests for voters.
