HOUSTON -- A City Council candidate has been accused of trying to pick up a prostitute.Terrance Hall, 25, has been charged with prostitution.Houston police said the prostitute was actually an undercover police officer working a sting operation in the 3400 block of Liberty Road on Thursday.Detectives said they have been cracking down in the neighborhood recently because of complaints from residents."They just hang out here," resident and beauty shop owner Sammie Dorsey said. "If I'm not here at my shop, they sit here."In less than an hour Thursday, police arrested three suspected johns.Police said Hall offered $15 for sex.Hall kicked off his campaign for City Council in July with rallies and a video on YouTube.Hall is married and the father of an infant girl. He also volunteers as a youth minister at the Christian Life Community Church.He was previously a volunteer for U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee. Her office said he is not a full-time employee.Hall was unavailable for comment on Friday.One of the other people arrested in the sting was Gregory Thompson, an employee in the city's water department. Police said he was on city time and driving a water department truck when he propositioned an undercover police officer.
