The King strikes again: overtime

The word this morning (Thursday, 13 March) is that Obama ia about to sign an executive order requiring many businesses to pay overtime with a different standard that currently used. Details are not out there yet but when did it become a problem that required presidential intervention?

One aspect is to give overtime to salaried workers. Having been a salaried worker and an hourly worker, the salaried worked has certain benefits to offset the lack of overtime. These will have to go away to cover this. A salaried worker has access to time off and personal time that a hourly does not have. Still, when did this become a presidential problem?
