Best places to eat near Homewood? Anywhere nice to visit before leaving?

Hey guys & gals I'm in town for a short time from Texas.
I would love some suggestions on where is good to eat in Homewood? Also anything else interesting going on in this town?

I like Sam's Super Sandwhiches: they have great burgers (Downtown Hwood), Paw Paw Patch: like grandma's/home cooking (Off Greensprings), there's a wings place (across the street from Paw Paw Patch).

I might try Paw Paw patch lol . I like home cooked southern food. Thanks for the advice!

I am in Hoover not Homewood. So any suggestions for Hoover ladies and gents?

There are many good eateries around the Galleria mall.. Whole foods (on 280) has a really good bistro / wine bar as well.
