I have sinned...

So I just wanted to get this out to anyone that might be on the path to commit the cardinal hobbyist sin as I did. “Thou shalt not advance payment for services before services are rendered, regardless of the reason behind the request “ It’s even worse that this confession comes from a 6 year veteran. Yes, this happened to me, not once but twice. One was a provider I sadly thought was a friend in the RW and I allowed myself to be strung along for a couple years, and the most recent was a provider I had seen on several occasions, she fed me a line that she was in trouble and dumb ass me thought he was some kind of knight in shining armor, well you know how this story ends as well. I’m not looking for sympathy, berating or even a “told you so!” I also don’t want to put all the ladies in the same category, but just saying gentleman beware I don’t want you to be putting out this same message in the future.

Lol, you’re certainly not alone, I’ve been there brutha. Burned a couple of times, a couple of times it’s been fine.

It has happened to most.
Sorry that happened to you. It's people like that that make this community less safe by making us very paranoid of one another.

I've had a few clients pre-pay for future visits. It's always been their idea. Mostly they didn't want the extra cash hanging around for their wives to find or we have an arrangement where it is beneficial for them to pay in advance for services rendered throughout the month.

Paying in full for a future session that isn't even scheduled yet to someone who is in financial trouble is not advisable. That's a loan and the only ones anyone should have should be from financial institutions or family.

I feel that some hobbyists take that mindset and apply it to DEPOSITS. A deposit is to cover the opportunity cost of an extended adventure in case "something comes up" on the client's end. I am NOT flying myself to someone without enough compensation to cover the cost of Lyft rides, hotel stay, meals, and a portion what I would have made staying home if they ghost me once I land in the city they fly me to.
