"What actresses are former prostitutes ?"

WOW, Marilyn Monroe was a prostitute....
Where are the Movie Exec's?

Clara Bow, the "It Girl", was the daughter of a prostitute.

She grew up desperately poor. Her mother would hide her in the closet while she went down to the street to lure a prospect up and then Clara would listen to them conduct business.

She had one dress, so when her mother laundered it, Clara had to sit around in her underwear waiting for the dress to dry on the line.

I read a biography of Joan Crawford than suggested she may have been one as well.

The woman that played Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter was a porn star early on...don't know about the Provider part, though.

Since you use Marilyn Chambers to start this thread, don't forget that she was a former "Ivory Soap" box model and if you pay attention, in most of her movies you would find this very box someplace in a scene.

other images of her in various stages of life including what appears to be another cover shot but I don't know if that was from after she got fired from Ivory or before.

As an aspiring actress, she had a small role in the movie "The Owl and the Pussycat" but once she did porn, mainstream movies never really used her again.

But another porn star would have to be Traci Lords. She was extremely controversial because she had lied about her age when starting her porn career and so anyone who owned any of her videos before she turned 18 was in possession of child porn and once that became known, it didn't matter how you bought it, you had to destroy it of face felony charges if caught with it.

But Traci moved to mainstream acting with limited success. She had a recurring role on an NBC show in the late 90's called "The Profiler" as the ongoing serial killer Jack's protege "Jill". The show did a very good job of turning her into a very suitable look alike for the main character, Ally Walker, using makeup and hair.
This is crazy! Very interesting! I Didn't know any of this.

No offense, but I wouldn't give any credibility to the 'information' in the link the OP gave us. It reads like some illiterate, horny teenager wrote it.

I heard Lucille ball was a escort back in the day, too!

Some of the listings are hard to swallow.... pun not intended, but it is staying. Though some of the issues of trying to get into acting do seem make getting in to the provider profession a logical choice.

1. Availability: An aspiring actress has no way of knowing when an audition will happen. They may only have an hour or two notice. (Hugh Laurie got the role of House when he was dropping off his friend at the audition and he wanted to do his best "asshole American" impression. He wasn't even there for the audition himself.) This means that they need a job that allows them to up and leave at a moments notice without horrible consequences. Hence why so many are servers.

2. They already have everything they need to reel in customers: Weird thing about LA, most jobs you need a headshot. And I'm talking about even the Starbucks barista. And if you're trying to get into acting you have even more photos. All professionally done to make you look awesome. Great for a showcase or website or even CL if you are so inclined.

3. Make connections and build a reputation: The aspiring actress is in a town filled with beautiful people, trying to convince beautiful people that they are worth giving the time of day. If you are good looking and with good self-esteem the people that hate you the most are other good looking people because you are competition. So how do you stand out in the crowd? Well, sex is one way. We all know of plenty of actorsd, directors and producers that have been caught redhanded with a callgirl. We kind of expect it. And I guarantee most remember a good call girl over a good waitress. I bet at least half of them slept with said celebrity so they may be able to convince them to get them in to that SAG production so they may actually have a shot at a career in film. Not to mention there is not much difference between sleeping for some cash versus sleeping for a studio contract.

Quite honestly, there are a lot of similarities between a good actress and a good provider; charm, good looks, some acting talent when needed. The only real difference I can find is that the providers are better employed.

Shit damn. I mis-read the first line and apologize. Instead of Marilyn Monroe, my brain saw that as Marilyn Chambers and so my reply above has really nothing to do with the thread.

Sorry.

Unless one could consider that being paid to fuck on film in porn somehow relates to prostitution....

There has always been the rumor about Madonna in her early days before fame and needing to pay the rent in NY city.

Shocking! Women trading pussy to get what they want? That old Hollywood standby cliche', the "casting couch," didn't appear out of nowhere.
