There are re-size tools for your pictures. Today's digital cameras capture larger & larger images (more pixels) trying to match the photo quality of film. But that amount of detail can not be displayed on most device screens (though PCs are catching up), especially mobile devices. The reduction of pixels by these re-size tools isn't really noticed, yet it significantly reduces the file size of attachments.
