Jets-Patriots and the Controversial Fumble

the league has done it again.. shown favoritism to the Patriots.. the refs have been in their pocket for years.. so many say.

but they got the call right.

yes, it seems unfair, and it was bad luck for the Jets.. but that ball came loose, granted the running back recovered his own "fumble" immediately, but.. a rule is a rule.. he recovered out of bounds.

The league's Rules Committee has fucked with the wording and twisted the interpretations of so many nuances of the game (ie: "what constitutes a catch"...."pass interference"..."roughing the quarterback"...."targeting a defenseless receiver"...etc) so much that I no longer recognize the game I grew up watching (and playing, as well).

The word "bobble" was never used decades ago as it is today on practically every frickin' telecast when describing up to two-dozen receptions per game. The game has become borderline unwatchable today. Zebras almost appear to be in a conga line to see how much air time they receive....

I'm still not convinced Seferian-Jenkins fumbled what was a clear catch-and-run once he crossed the goal line. But...I suppose my interpretation of the rules is dated. I guess I just yearn for the days when a Jack Tatum could de-cleat a unsuspecting wide receiver with a clothesline tackle and the refs simply kept the laundry in their pockets......

The rule is pretty f-up and needs to changed.

I think it's one of the rules that should be changed. If you fumble it out of the end zone while you are on offense and the defense doesn't recover, it should go back to where it was fumbled.
