Alternatives to cell phones for the biz

How many of you use apps/Google voice instead of cell phones? What do you recommend? I have two phones (one person and one for my vanilla job). I really don't like having a third.

Thanks in advance.

Google voice has to be registered using an email (easy) and verified with a phone number (depending on your intelligence, this is easy to do with a fake number). Even then I think because people use their device with that app and google's tracking system, it's not to hard to track down.

When I first got my voice number I got an unknown call and I picked up. They hung up and I got a call on the same phone, but on my real number and same thing.

Few days later I received a call from the sheriff asking me who I am and after some discussion, they had me mixed up for the last person who used that number. I was in the clear, but still got a new voice number and cop still had my regular number. Never heard from him again so they did have a misunderstanding.

I recommend getting a 3rd phone from a wallyworlds and paying with cash. Just get a basic phone with a removal battery so you can stay safe and that's IF you're super paranoid.

Basically, when you are moving the phones ping the towers so they can always see that two phones were pinging the towers at the same time and moving in the same direction. This would be all circumstantial and not that necessary for the hobby. I know some people who have gone through some extreme lengths to stay anonymous.

I use a iPhone device (location service disabled) and a prepaid card from AT&T, used a fake name/address and reload with prepaid cards purchased in grocery stores. Rarely use the phone/text so has costed me $75 (3x$25 cards) over the past 1-1/2 yrs.
This is different from my real android phone.
