Where can I get AUTHENTIC THAI (Tom Yum) and PHO?
Coming from Mississippi. If the weather in the coming days is anything like here. Rainey and nippy. I want a bowl of those hot soups.

And while I know the honky tonk bars and BBQ joints there.
I'm wanting to enjoy some Blues. And particular hole in wall places to enjoy that?
Or do I wait until I'm in Nola or Memphis??

I don’t know Thai but I would definitely go to BBKings downtown for the blues.

My go-to for Thai cuisine in Memphis is Bhan Thai at 1324 Peabody in Midtown.

As for Vietnamese, a quick Google search on "best vietnamese restaurants in memphis" came up with three hits, all in or near Midtown, that I've heard good things about (two I've been to and can give a good recommendation):

Pho Binh, 1615 Madison (been here and loved it)

Pho Saigon, 2946 Poplar (have yet to go--need to remedy that soon--but heard good things about it, and haven't heard anything bad)

Vietnam Restaurant, 74 N. Cleveland (I was there when they were located on Poplar (building torn down to put up a Kroger gas station), and it was good. I haven't been since they relocated to Cleveland, though).

Good luck!

Cheers,

If you want a slightly less touristy blues club than what you'll find on Beale Street in Memphis, try Wild Bill's at 1580 Vollintine, northeast of downtown. It's more of a small, old-style neighborhood club, where the drink of choice is a 40-oz. beer and the people are friendly. Especially to good-looking women.
