Why so much difference in reported results?

Google showing Trump 120 Harris 99 Electoral Votes

NY Times and AP news showing same 120-99,

CNN Trump 154-27,

ABC also 154-27,

FOX Trump 178-113,

NBC Trump 154-30.

FOX now has Trump at 195-113 and Trump leading in several states by a large %, 8-12% ahead.

They just decide based on how confident they are in the incoming vote balances vs already counted votes

Maybe depends on the state and mail in votes (which are also early votes). I defer to others on the mechanics. Gist is we didn't get bogged down in last minute voting.

I remember 2020 I stayed up til 2 am watching it and when I finally went to sleep, 3-4 states were 97% counted with Trump ahead by 15,000-25,000 votes but no one has declared Trump a winner in any of those states.

At that same 2 am, Trump was also just a few electoral short of 270 while Biden was still behind by many many EV.

The next morning those3-4 states went to Biden by 10,000-20,000 votes more than Trump. So the 3% votes not counted at 2 am and were counted after 2 am, covered the 15,000-25,000 votes Trump had to make it even and then covered another 10,000-20,000 votes to give Biden the win in those states?

IMPOSSIBLE!!

FURTHERMORE, 97% of votes reported in those 3-4 states and a winner was not declared while in other states, winners were declared with less than 70-80% reported!

Explain that to me !!

And the rest involves rural counties being in the high 90's while major population areas have larger volumes of outstanding votes left to count.

In many places that 3% doesn't matter based on where the counts are still outstanding. In others you really are talikg about tens of thousands of votes.
