Posthumous Medal of Honor

Today, a Congressional Medal of Honor was posthumously awarded by President Obama to Father Emil Kapaun of Kansas, an Army chaplain during the Korean War who died as a POW in 1951 at age 35. He was recognized for his extraordinary heroism, not in combat, but in providing care and comfort to wounded soldiers in the battlefield and in the POW camp. Sainthood for Father Kapaun may also be a possibility.
