how about a thread tools sticky to explain how they work?

we have a nice sticky on picture posting. any chance we can get a sticky that explains how to use all other tools at the top of thread options. especially from "insert link" to "[YOUTUBEHD]". probably wouldn't hurt to explain attachment option and when, why and where you might use it. Also, I have seen a few videos posted I think - not sure how that is done - or at least can't seem to figure it out where it shows as a picture like they do it. Maybe there is a way to do it as a picture with an encoded hyper link?

You can usually find those in the help sections, but they're not too difficult to figure out either as most of them are just click to use.


Making a hyperlinked image
If you want to do an image with a link then you need to take two steps.

I'm going to use this image to show you how to create a link to google.com.

First you click this icon and insert the picture url. It should display the image inside the post now like so

highlight the code that was generated:

and then click the Insert Link icon .
Then paste the URL into the popup and you should have a image with a link and the end result would be this:




Embedding a YouTube Video

The youtube is a little bit trickier because you need to copy the video ID.
Say you want to embed this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ) into your post.
You need to find the which reads V= and copy the video ID right after it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ
Sometimes it's not so simple and has more stuff in it which is usually separated by an ampersand (&), but as long as it's between the V= and the & it will work.

Now, using the video I linked earlier, we take the ID we stripped (dQw4w9WgXcQ), highlight it and click the Youtube HD icon .

It should look like this after you're done:
