As a Republican myself and someone who has spent time with Mr. Brownback (funny story...ask me sometime) I couldn't disagree with him more on this. Politicians have no business trying to govern how people choose to live their lives. A large number of those on the right complain about how the left is trying to socialize America through different Goverment programs, yet they have no problem trying to tell people what is morally acceptable.
Do I believe in law? Yes I do, but I don't believe that anyone or any goverment agency needs to spend tax payers money on trying to regulate morals. We are having an economic crisis in our country, people are losing homes, jobs, schools are closing and instead of addressing those concerns, the Goverment spends millions of dollars on conferences and committees to "discuss different threats to our communities" the biggest threat to our communities are the politicians and goverment agencies that serve themselves by doing something high profile in order to gain media coverage so they can say..."hey look at us, we here serving the people". The truth is they are serving their re election bids. It was Will Durant that said " A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within"

To me there is a big difference between "human trafficing" and an individual who makes a private decision to become an escort. I hope no one on this board would ever want to see someone who did not enter into this of their own free will.
Anyone who does deserves to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Like a bail out for banks that make extremely poor loans, beinging bailed out? If the government had used THEIR retirement and health care funds instead of public tax money, it would be a different call?
And that can happen in this venue as well? Trafficing can be used as the excuse to harass, hamper, arrest, detain with that as the marker.

Obviously, my fear is that this "hot button symposium" they are having will lead to a multi-jurisdictional task force doing major take-downs as in the past . . . in fact, I've noticed a disturbing trend in advertisements and other venues that MAY lead one to the conclusion that they could be ramping up for such . . . and occasionally, I get a feeling here and there that lets me know that things MAY be coming (read that as you like).
When I was with Plaza, and having opportunity to come to know Dennis, Chuck and others as well as I did, I know the ONLY thing that ever got their blood to boil to the point where they would have "made a call" to the right (wrong) people about a girl was when a gentleman would bring an underage girl in the office with a fake ID and want her to contract. It was obvious, disgusting, repugnant, and I personally would have done the same . . . . the look on a young girl's face when she sits with her head down and you know - you can just tell in your gut - "what is what" from reading her body language, well, there is no cure for that broken spirit. Hell, I'd do fund-raising myself to get the young girls forced into this endeavor off the street.
Someone as myself, who is a careful adult professional leading a life of my own choosing (and I may be the sanest person in this business according to things I have heard my clients say) - I just want left alone and I don't want a trafficking push to scoop up those gentlemen or ladies that feel STRONGLY that "it is my body, my choice" and they run their business accordingly and responsibly. If Roe v. Wade gives me the right to my body in such broad terms as it does, then I damn well should have the same right to control my own body otherwise . . . well, that could get this thread completely off topic, so let's not go there - but damn Sam, you know and so does everyone else that you're covering another agenda!
I can't wait for the scandal to break and a well known provider to come forward with proof on old Brownback and say "yeah, I fucked him". Poetic justice it would be, such a puritan he is that it is unlikely. Frankly, the man scares me with his Phelps like fanaticism.
There's my 2 cents for the day . . if I were a hobbyist, I'd keep my eye sharp for a bit, I think we can all feel what is coming.

Allow me to say that I in no way think that "human trafficing" is ok. I think it is a terrible, disgusting act and I agree that those guilty of it should be put in prison for the rest of their days. However, I also believe that our Goverment has a history of trying to lump a bunch of issues into one cause and calling it something. My whole point was that I do not believe that the Goverment needs to be in the morality business. We have witnessed through the years our elected officials telling us how to live, only to have some scandel break and lose all credibility (John Edwards anybody?) The bottom line, no one is perfect and we all stumble from time to time...so allow people to live as they choose as long as they are not endangering or hurting others.

My admiration of you just went up by a factor of 10. Both men and women are people, not objects. The whole point of having the hobby is to protect the women that a guy has around him. Thus, the need for security is paramount. Most guys that have known, and able to give love can find a pleasant evening at little to no dollar cost; it is the followup costs that compound. I'm starting to see some anti-Republican bigotry here and I don't like it though I'm a conservative. We are all here for the same reason and we don't need to be split up because of unkind and unthinking comments like you see above.
As for Phil Kline, I never heard of him attacking hobbyists any more than democrats. His thing was unlawful abortions performed on underage girls in Wichita. Why would anyone be against that?
I don't know what Brownback is up to but I can guess that he needs a flourish in his campaign for governor. I can also expect that he will easily win the election according to my sources unless some has a silver bullet. The future is bigger than the hobby, it will survive in some form. The state is in trouble with a projected 400 million dollar deficit for this year (ending on 30 June) and projected deficits into the forseeable future.

I've written two papers on human trafficking and there's a HUGE difference between that and what grown, mature adults decide to do for a living or BCD. For some politicans, its much easier to grab all the providers they can and then try to figure out who is underage. To me, that's a waste of time and tax payers money.
They need to talk to LE departments in CA, FL and NY to see how their sweeps go, as in picking up the traffickers. They need to speak to ICE and NCMEC also. From what I've read, they won't, they'll just go with a full sweep and weed out later.
