SCARY MURDERS IN WACO!

This little Texas town seems to have lots of crime lately
Bandidos vs Cossacks this time
I would be scared to tour this place due to recent events very sad for this town

I would not say increasing crime. This was an isolated incident. From what I have heard it was only the bikers to get killed or injured. I have not heard of and civilian. You are probably more likely to be mugged, stabbed or shot in Austin or DFW.
So, I really do not see what you base you statement on. Please elaborate.

Waco is a mid point between Dallas and austin. And they decided to meet in Waco. Both biker gangs met there for a meeting when things got out of hand

I heard that no civilians were hurt; just members of the biker gangs and some of them were not local.

Waco is and has been for many years, a very dangerous place.

A look at violent crime statistics shows Waco to be significantly higher than both the Texas and National statistics for the 14 years shown



The city violent crime rate for Waco in 2012 was higher than the national violent crime rate average by 27.64% and the city property crime rate in Waco was higher than the national property crime rate average by 60.38%.

In 2012 the city violent crime rate in Waco was higher than the violent crime rate in Texas by 20.85% and the city property crime rate in Waco was higher than the property crime rate in Texas by 36.41%.


That being said, the shootout at Twin Peaks has some interesting twists that will eventually come out.

1) the Waco PD, with permission of the shopping center management company, had emplaced their SWAT units around Twin Peaks HOURS before the bikers arrived
2) over 22 police (Waco PD and State Troopers) were sitting in marked and unmarked cars outside of Twin Peaks the entire time the bikers were inside the restaurant
3) the police did NOT "arrive on the scene within moments" they were, in fact, waiting outside when the fight started.
4) the police did NOT have a officer inside the restaurant
5) when the bikers came outside with guns, the cops opened fire
6) at least 3 bodies were left on the asphalt, in the parking lot, uncovered, for over 7 hours, and in plain site

Apparently, the biker clubs met to discuss territory disputes, it seems that the Cossacks recently began wearing a Texas bottom rocker on their colors, thereby challenging the Bandidos (a much larger biker club) with respect to territory in Texas (both those gangs originated in Texas). The other clubs present (Scimitars and two others) were apparently taking sides with one club or the other (the Scimitars were aligned with the Cossacks). I could not make out the other clubs involved.

Twin Peaks of Waco had it TABC license pulled, its TP franchise license pulled and corporate decided to permanently close the Waco location. Corporate is investigation the Harker Heights location, as it is owned by the same people as the Waco restaurant.

Thank goodness, there were no civilian casualties.


The after action report will be interesting to read.

The Franchise owners are going to pay a heavy price for their bad business decisions. With no franchise and no liquor license they now own a business that can't generate income. They will owe the bank millions for that property and won't be able to pay their monthly mortgage. Investors will wait for the owners to default and pick up the property for cents on the dollar. That's just business. Their Killeen Twin Peaks franchise might default also if corporate just wants to get rid of them because of what they caused in Waco. Most businesses have a rule that nobody is allowed to wear their colors as a customer. That rule alone deters gangs from coming in large numbers. The owners and management catered to the wrong customers and placed innocent people in danger. Just saying.

That is interesting Sarge. I looked at Houston, Fort Worth, Dallas, Temple and Killeen. Outside of Austin, Waco is not that bad and the numbers are getting better. Uncle LEO is doing a good job improving. Of course this incident does not help. Just like the David Koresh (however you spell his name) incident. We are just a magnet for big stuff. Go big or go home.

I live in Waco and the crime rate has def gone down. I personally think Killeen is higher crime rate than Waco. All I hear on the new is Killeen.

Well, the owners have lost the franchise fee, which according to the Twin Peaks corporate website, is $50,000. http://www.twinpeaksrestaurant.com/franchise/faq/ I am sure they lost more.

I have attended many a biker night. All of the places I attended those had a rule about "flying your colors". That kept the "riff-raff" bikers out (read Outlaw Motorcycle gangs).



These groups self-identify as Outlaw clubs (the feds label them as Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs). I have been in a business where one or two Bandidos stopped by, in colors (wearing their leather vests with the club emblems, etc on them). But never at a place where groups gathered in colors.

I would not stay in an establishment that allowed that or sponsored a "bike night" that allowed outlaw motorcyclists to gather flying colors.

I have been to many a biker bar/club. Many that had bikers in colors, but NEVER OUTLAW colors. There is a difference. Bikers know it and people that have a bike night should know it.

Once you allow OUTLAW biker colors to gather in your place, you are now "property" or "territory" of the "gang".

Extremely poor management decision several months ago, that went uncorrected and led to the death of 9 people.

It is a shame.

Goes to show you, even the criminals dont want to live that close to Aggies.

I have been watching this post since she began it. She didn't elaborate, but I believe she may be referring to the past shootouts/shootings in and near Waco. Of course without her input, one can only speculate.

I may be missing some.

Luby's, Branch Davidians, the FT Hood shootings 2009 and 2014, and now this one.

Thanks for the info about Waco crime rate. I have only been through twice to and from FT Hood. I just have a passing interest since it is all over the national news. I know FT Hood is closer to Killeen but a lot of people associate it with Waco.

Waco has high crime areas just like any town. All the central/older parts of town have higher crime.

This biker brawl is an unusual event. Based on what I've seen, I don't think we've heard the whole story. It is possible that the increased law enforcement presence (they were staking them out) led to a higher death toll. There are numerous conflicting stories that aren't getting any media coverage.

I don't think the Cossack's are 1%s. I've seen them at several bars around town and they came off as average Joes to me. Correct me if I'm wrong.

This has led to a "turf war" with the Bandidos, who are on the top of the Outlaw Biker Gang list of the feds and the state.

The Cossacks have been in talks with the Hells Angels (an Outlaw Biker Gang).

The wearing of the Texas bottom rocker has led recently to fights between the gangs. Back in March, on the 22d, Ten Cossacks forced a Bandido member off Interstate 35 near Lorena, (Just 14 miles south of Waco) attacking him with “chains, batons and metal pipes.” They then stole his motorcycle.

That same day, the Bandidos confronted a Cossacks member who was getting gas for his motorcycle at a truck stop in Palo Pinto County. The Cossacks biker refused to remove the Texas patch from his vest, so the Bandidos attacked him, “by striking his head with a hammer and stealing his vest.”

The Cossacks, according to the book, The One Percenter Encyclopedia: The World of Outlaw Motorcycle Clubs, is a"Classic Club" which has made the "made the law enforcement map in Texas".

This fight between the clubs has been brewing. According to some sources, the Cossacks were not invited to the meeting at Twin Peaks

It appears that 8 of the dead were Cossacks, 1 was Bandido.

Some very legitimate Motorcycle clubs were present.
