Where to stay in Austin

Hélène Stone's Avatar
Hi,

I'm considering a visit in the not-too-distant future and I'm trying to figure out which part of town is the best in which to stay. Can someone please provide me with some insight?

Thanks

Thank you!
There's some nice areas in south Austin, I would avoid I-35 and 183 area.
Is North Austin a no-go?
The arboretum is north.

I would also recommend the Arboretum area or the Domain area, they are not far apart.
Downtown can be a hassle with traffic and parking.
South Austin is too far South and traffic can be an issue.
I 35 and 183 has some sketchy places.

There are other threads about this if you want to do a little searching.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you! I just need to know what area to tell Hotwire when I book.
OK my hobby buddies below left out an important link to map in ATX Coed for use by new ladies coming to visit. See Map at: http://eccie.net/showthread.php?t=654993

Avoid Williamson County--Law and Order Republicans rule the roost.

Avoid the Rundberg and Vagina Triangle areas as there are higher crime rates in that area, along with Austin PD presence to counter the crime.

Avoid most Notels on I-35, North from DownTown to Braker Lane, as some have been associated with Pimps and trafficking of minors, along with Austin PD presence.

Just saying...
