Bad bad luck

So my friend got pulled over. Police said no front plate displayed (texas). Asked him to step out and assume position. Cuffed. Asked about a robbery that just happened. (He had nothing to do with it). Asked to look in car. He denied. They searched anyways cuz vehickr matched description. Found his drugs. Hauled to jail for the drugs.

Good bust or not?

Based on the facts you state, I don't think the drugs recovered from the warrantless search would be admissible into evidence. No drugs, no case.

I concur with SJ. This case, as you describe the facts, should not get past DA intake.
