You handled that well. Good instincts to get out of there. One thing I tend to forget: Many criminals are dumb.
1) They are all over the cameras at the hotel and most hotels require an ID/credit card to reserve a room.
2) Using a work truck with the company name on it.
3) They already had your money for the meet and you're a regular, so you represent future money too.
It makes no sense for them to commit felonies, but looks like they tried. I have no idea why they tried that with you but the answer is most likely: they're just dumb.
That adrenaline kick is intense when in that situation. To go from thinking you're getting sex to suddenly maybe fighting for your life is a dramatic 180 in the span of seconds. We become the white-tail bucks of November.
