I am contemplating taking a sabatical from the joys of the hobby but am looking at options that might make things easier...

I was wondering if anyone had experience with some of the anti-libido medicines, etc. I was reading something about a natural one called "Libidno" but wanted to see if this is something that the community can provide input on killing off one's sex drive.

Thanks.

Tried saltpeter? That's what the military uses to keep the soldiers' minds on battle...

From http://www.snopes.com/military/saltpeter.asp
Given that saltpeter doesn't suppress sexual urges and is dangerous to use, the Army lacks any reason to administer it to those within its ranks. Yet those two facts will probably do little to dissuade those who are certain the coffee continues to taste funny.
Why would you any to do that, sex is the best thing on the planet!

That's why he's hobbying in the first place.

I've always used the tried and true method..................age

Try reducing your time from eccie and other sites, it's like any other addiction, like smoking, if you REALLY want to stop, you can, but you have to want to.

Install parental blocking on your computer and lose the password.

Then take up skateboarding, or chess, or .....

The only problem with that is when he decides to come back from hiatus he will have to hire a 12 year old to hack his computer. There has to be a better work around.

What's the cost of a new computer compared to the hobby? :-)
I would say, exercise, exercise, exercise. Take up strenuous exercise. Runners tend to burn up testosterone, and your sex drive should diminish. Plus, if you exercise enough each day, you will be too pooped to care, with the added benefit of being in great shape when you are ready to return.

There's something out there called F5-KO that has proven to reduce libido. You should check it out, and frequently!

(Note: The F5-KO can cause damage if over used, like calluses. Acronym: Finger Five - Knuckle Oscillator.)

That's right kids, masturbation is still the #1 doctor recommended solution for what ails you.

On a serious note, why are you considering hiatus? You are a valued poster, imo. If you
do take a break though, you might find masturbation without porn as a good remedy - one which will help you break the cycle while feeding your little monster. It really depends on how addicted you are.

But really...isn't this the wrong board for this convo? C'mon Shlub! No one likes a quitter!

Hahaha!! Just kidding, and best wishes,

LNH, thanks for the support.

I wish it was as simple as taking care of myself as needed. That was the solution prior to my starting to hobby but the option is no longer feasible now as I lack the uninterrupted privacy at home.

Honestly, my issues are larger than a need for release.

This cycle of the hobby has been full of introspection for me and, consequently, I've had a bit of a reality check. I dipped my toe into the waters of "give a shit" and allowed myself to connect intellectually and emotionally as well as physically. The result is that I can much more clearly see the multiple aspects of my life that require change.

I fear that, unchecked, I will put myself in a position where I do not have the ability to choose what, how and when to change. Thus, if I can suppress my desire for and thoughts of sex, I can reverse the course of my continually-increasing hobbying. It is my hope that the removal of this motivator and the associated angst will allow me to be more objective as I explore my options.

The best anti-horny remedy around is just thinck about the IRS. If the IRS does not make you lose the will to have sex nothing will.
