Why are we allowed to bump a thread that is OLD but discouraged from bumping a review older than one month?

Because that is how the owners of this site want it.
Because of what they are and what they contain reviews are, shall we say, perishable. In a matter of weeks to months the information can become old, out of date. So posting in one whose most recent post is over 30 days ago is discouraged. The one exception to that is if the post contains something new and relevant to the topic.

That is probably the most relative thread in this community. If you don't like it, skip it.
If you just want to clear the unread threads, go to the Forum Tools button (on the top right side of the Coed Forums), hit the DownArrow to expand it, and select Mark This Forum Read. The page will mark all threads read.
