Here's something nasty that happened to my good friend Juliette. I'm wondering what other bad experiences people may have had and how they might protect themselves in the future.
My escort friend Juliette told me, “This guy ripped me off. I’m about as careful as you can get. I always insist on references. I usually talk to the client to see if there is anything that might make me feel uncomfortable. I’m careful not to say anything incriminating just in case it’s law enforcement. Not only did he rip me off, he also threatened me. He had a number of reviews posted, sounded fine on the phone, and his references checked out.”
“So what did he do?” I asked.
“He left the unsealed envelope with my fee on the table where he was supposed to, but stupid me, I didn’t peek inside when he went to the bathroom to wash. I trusted him, although I shouldn’t have because through the session, he gave off weird vibes, and I had a hard time getting into the session. When he left, I found the envelope was empty. I called him immediately, and he started berating me, calling me a stupid whore, and that he would report me to the police if I gave him any trouble. He also said he might come by and knock some sense into me. I was shaken up and felt sick for a week. I’ve been doing this for five years, and it’s the first time anything like this has happened. The part that really scared me is that he came to my incall, which is also where I live, and it's just not that secure. He could easily break my door down. What am I supposed to do? It’s not like I have his real name. I can’t call the cops.”
“I don’t understand how his references checked out,” I said.
“This is the scary part. He pretended to be somebody who had posted reviews. I contacted two providers via email who he had supposedly seen and they both gave me a thumbs up. I should have verified he was really who he was supposed to be.”
“How could you have done that?”
"Well, I could have asked him to physically describe the providers he saw, or have asked the providers to describe him. Or I could have asked him to send me a message from the board using his handle on the board’s messaging system. He could only do that if he was the actual client. I’ve learned my lesson and I’ll be much more careful in the future.”
