"The Trump administration is seeking to phase out funding for coronavirus testing and contact tracing, as well as funds for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health in a forthcoming GOP coronavirus relief package, according to two sources familiar with ongoing negotiations between the White House and Senate Republicans.

The Washington Post first reported these negotiations, which according to two officials are not going over well with Republicans.

Senate Republicans are proposing some $25 billion in grants to states for testing and contact tracing, as well as about $10 billion for the CDC and $15 billion for the NIH, the sources said."

I have my doubts as to whether this is true. If it is, the Trump Administration is taking an incredibly stupid position. If you're having a war you want to win, you pump more resources into it. You don't devote the same resources to the army or defense intelligence as you do during peacetime. How would that have worked in World War II?

I doubt the Republican Senators will stand for this. Trump has been doing a pretty good job of committing political hari-kari, and presumably the GOP Senators don't won't to be drug down with him. Although some of them probably will be anyway.

The Democrats are proposing to spend lots of money with this bill for questionable purposes, which make the $50 billion Republican Senators are proposing to spend on actually fighting the virus look puny by comparison.

Tiny - Agreed.
trump seems to be a POTUS who is sick and tired of the DPST and LSM unrelenting Lies and harassment.
I am unsure he wants a second term.

he would do best - IMHO- to not seek re-election - and turn it over to Pence.
