Wierd prompt??

I had a question. When I logged on today, I received a message prompt I hadn't seen before. It said "Your passwords is 10 days old and therefore expired. Please change it now." I could not navigate anywhere except to the password update screen, so I did change it a little so I could get in and ask you about it? Is this something new? I have never been asked to do that before.

regards.

I have never heard of the policy nor have I been asked to change mine. Hacked?

Not sure. Everything seems fine...... Weird.
Just went in and changed it again (unprompted) to something totally different. All seems well.

I got the same message just now. Are you guys sure this is not a new security measure?

Btw, this is the first time since I joined that I got this prompt.
Everything is fine. The system is asking members to update their password. That's it.

Thanks, St. C. You might consider posting a notice somewhere (maybe a sticky in each forum) letting members know. You know how paranoid folks get when anything different comes up....
I was promted to change my password as well. Said mine was 701 days old. I changed it, then changed it again just for security

Ps, I haven't even been on here 701 days

Same here.... Logged on and was forced to a page requiring that I reset my PW after something like 500+ days...
Good idea TinMan,...then people will know about it in advance and have the opportunity to start complaining even before it happens! Lol just a little admin humor there....I cherish my complainers just as much as anyone else... all opinions welcomed, always.

That's funny, St. C. Assuming that people would read those stickies. Haha, you are such a card.

I do hope that each of us has multiple passwords already for different sites. ie, bank and financial passwords are totally different and unique from anything else, and the hobby passwords are totally unique to the hobby only.

By the time I get my head around about 50 passwords that work, I don't appreciate any changes - just for the sake of change.

Maybe that is the problem, JRLawrence: some folks aren't changing their passwords, and are using ones that are simple to figure out, thereby exacerbating the security issues that have plagued this site. I doubt it's change for the sake of change.
