Harry Potter....What The Frick?

I recently lost a bet with a girl and had to watch all seven harry
potter movies , I was only going to make her watch
four lee marvin movies if she lost.

Things I noticed

Hogwarts was the most dangerous irresponsible place on the planet.
The people running the place constantly put the children in mortal
danger. Children running around with deadly magic wands, making deadly
potions in the classroom, giant spiders and other deadly creatures near
the campus, a homicidal weeping willow tree on the grounds.

Harry was suppose to be some great wizard in the making, but he spent
a large portion of his time falling out and fainting.

About 80% of the movies was something like "harry potter, what are you
doing out of bed and roaming the hallways at this hour"

Magic wands were instruments of great power, but could be broken
by hand like an old cane fishing pole, sit down with one in your
back pocket and you were SOL

One of the more realistic parallels. They were all about the flying broom
sport, rather than getting an education

The dude that played the villain in die hard was a prick in these movies also.

Careful...next she'll have you watching Narnia.
Not sure which four Lee Marvin movies u were gonna make her watch but I'll bet these two were on the list:
The Dirty Dozen
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

I may have let her get off easy and chose the twilight zone
episode he was on as one of them. She would have been
a fan before it was over.

I got the books as each came out and for my son. We went to the first 4 movies together! I'm rather fond of fainting Harry, as he gave me some great bonding time with my kiddo! I keep a copy on of one of the books on the table next to a chair in my living area, just to remind me, that we can all create a little magic for at least a moment in time, should we try.

Fine...I'm not afraid to say it. I've read most of the books and seen every one of the movies multiple times. Any time I'm channel surfing and see any HP movie on I'll stop and watch it.

I agree there are some pretty stupid things in there:

The flimsy breakable wooden wands that if lost or broken could easily cost them their lives.
The stupid moving staircases....how the hell do you ever make it to your room.
The deadly Tri-Wizard tournament where you have to fight a live dragon, figure out a way to stay underwater for a very long time with deadly creatures, or run thru a deadly maze where the shrubs want to kill you.
The entire game of Quidditch is crazy. Play this game hundreds of feet in the air while only sitting unprotected on a broom.
Cut down that stupid mean ass tree already.

Probably 100 more stupid things but won't stop me from watching!
