Scarborough Fare (Off Topic)

I know this is not hobby related but its the most read forum and hopefully of interest to folks

Scarborough Fare is back in season.

This is a great Rensissance festival held in Waxahachie each year, now thorough the end of May. Its great fun and a nice way to spend a weekend day. You can even dress in period dress or rent costumes there if you want.

Its open sat and Sun days. Would be a great outing for a group.

Always a good time. Are they still offering discount tickets this year? I believe it was either at Kroger or Tom Thumb last year.

I actually was suppose to dance with the belly dancers at Scarborough, however with my current condition they didnt want me in the heat all day. Im still going and dressing up like a do every year! I am a huge LARP geek (hehe) But im gonna dress as the town whore this year LOL!
Alecia you are too funny!

I LOVE Scarborough Fair! I hope I can find a day to go before it gets too hot out.

P.S. If parking is still free in that crappy lot it could literally be covered in cow poop and I would still take that FREE parking, lol.

I don't know why, but I have been in the metro area for over 10 years and have never been. I have met a few people in the last few months who either work there or go in costume of some sort or another.
When is the 'Hobby' Weekend? &
Who has some tips for me to get the most out of it, including how much to expect to spend, time to see all or most of it?

OK I'm about to do all of you a favor. If you follow these directions EXACTLY you will be able to park front and center every single day you go (assuming nothing has changed since last year... and knowing rex, I very much doubt it has.)

At each parking lot guard you pass, tell them you need to go down to the front and drop off or pick up someone. When you get close to the front (starting as far to Right of center as possible, but in the street that pass's directly in front of the front gate) start looking for the space immediatly in front of all the cars parked. It's just like if you cut in front of all the cars already parked. If you don't do it, everyone else (like me) that knows this trick will take the spots anyway. You will NOT get a ticket. In 15 years of going with my own car I have never, NOT ONCE, parked anywhere but the very front row.

It will hurt nothing to try. The parking attendants are always smoking funny things and could give a crap less where you park as long as you say the right things. In this case it's like taking candy from a baby. I'm glad to answer any questions about how to do this. I can post again once I've gone to confirm everything is still the same (or one of y'all can too... whatever. I'm easy.... just not free.)
I think a nice, concrete parking lot for a ren fest would defeat part of the ambiance.
