Ticketmaster Fees?

Brooke Wilde's Avatar
Is there any way to avoid them? I'm buying $140 worth of tickets and the f'ing fees are $57! That is crazy!

Is there a better way to buy tickets?

I checked stub hub, and it is not any better even though they really don't have any fees, because the ticket prices for the same seating areas are so much more on stub hub, they actually end up costing more.

Thanks

All third party ticket resale sites will have additional fees to pay.

It's best to go directly to the ticket box office of the event you want to attend. No extra fees to pay.

I sold a bunch of extra Astros playoff tickets on Stub Hub this year. Totally unbelievable how much they made for doing nothing other than setting up a website. Capitalism at it's best.

Those fees are crazy.

I remember being pissed off the last few times I've purchased tickets from Ticketmaster because of the fees and I had been meaning to make a post here seeing if anyone knew of any tricks or tips, but I kept forgetting to make the thread, that is until yesterday when I needed to buy tickets again.

I ended up walking over to the Hobby center box office yesterday afternoon and the fees were still $16.75 a ticket!!!!

At least the show was great and we were only 10 rows back so the seats were awesome, but $33 in service fees? For what? Hell, it took me about 30 minutes each way to walk there, I had to buy a bottle of water, my feet hurt when I got back to my place ... sounds like they owe me 33 dollars for my troubles ..... hahahahha.

AT one time, you could avoid the fees by buying the tickets at the box office of the venue where the event was to take place.
I do not know if that is till the case since not many places actually use tickets anymore.
I tried to buy tickets to a concert in April when it was first advertised. No tickets were left at the venue. Resellers had already snatched them up. There used to be a law against “Scalping”. Either the law no longer exists or is not enforced. Ex: $900 + fees for a World Series SRO ticket. Sucks!

I believe the law only applies to scalping at the location of the event.

The best way to get tickets is to join a fan club, join a venues mailing list, buy season tickets and resell those you do not want. anytime you can be on an emailer that allows you to buy before the general public you should do it.

I have seen where tickets would go on sale at 9 and the box office would not open till 10.

Use offer up. You can negotiate price plus no hidden fees.
Ticketmaster has to buy those tickets at the main venue outlet. And the price on the ticket is what they go for so they mark it up. Besides they have to pay those kids they send to buy up all the tickets so they can resell them.

try to get them from the VENUE directly.

i like free shit. become a semi-professional gambler, and you get all your shit for free. if it aint free or discounted, i aint interested. applies to certain other spheres as well...

i took a hobby friend to Schlitterbahn, and I was like, aw, hell naw. is this how all your sorry fucks live, overpaying for everything? ha ha. homegirl spent a little too much time flirting with her homeboy, so she got permabanned, jus like they do on eccie. those eccie dudes are some smart motherfuckers...
