Welcome to KC!!!
Q39 has amazing food my fav!
Thank you guys! Xxoo
Seems everyone answered your BBQ part but not the Steak part of your question. So I will do my best for that. This will depend on where you are staying and how far you want to go.

Starting Downtown I would say there are four options.

Anton's off Main St. nice thing about it is they butcher their own meat so you can pay by the ounce.

801 Chophouse in the Power and Light. Upscale nice place

The Majestic. Old School place very traditional.

The New Golden Ox in the West Bottoms. I have heard great things. I have only been to the previous version which was ok.

Plaza gives 3 options

The Capital Grille - Upscale chain and nationally known but really good.

Stock Hill. Local restaurant group Flagship operation.

Rye. While not a steakhouse, it does have high end steaks and owned by James Beard award winning Chefs. I can attest the Tomahawk Ribeye is amazing.

Overland Park has four choices

There are a second locations for both 801 Chophouse and Rye

J Gilbert's which I would say is my go to but both quality and price.

Sullivan's another upscale chain much like Capital Grille.

Good luck and I hope you find a place you like,
Thank you so much for this list. Xxoo
Seems Anton's went out of business tonight.
For BBQ try out the char bar. And for a steak try the golden ox.
Had dinner at The Magestic last night and it was wonderfully! Thank you to the sweet gent that spend the evening with me. KC you always spoil me. Xxoo
