I have thought this for years, so it was interesting to stumble on this article. anecdotally I observed that People who live on or near water, from Vietnam and the Philippines, to the Caribbean, are seemingly much more happy than those who are inland, despite factors such as economic hardship. even US spots, like the California Coast, Miami and New Orleans, seem happier than other areas.

Does a swimming pool counts?

I agree with that completely. There is just something about having large bodies of water in sight distance, close proximity and the flow that somehow makes people on average happier.

It's actually convenient to have a large body of water near you.

When you need to pee and you can't find a public restroom (or a Starbucks),

the lake or the river or the ocean is just one big toilet.

It's illegal but LE ignores it as they do not want to harass the tourists. American girls do it too, since everyone else is.
I did go to a nude beach near New Smyrna with a girlfriend at the time. That was disappointing. Most of the people there were not ashamed of their bodies but they should have been. It was not loaded with hotties, only fatties and oldies. The girl I was with was hot but I already knew what she looked like naked, I wanted to see some fresh babes.

Actually all the beaches in Miami are topless except for one beach that is all nude:

the north end of Haulover Beach.
