Now that it has come to an end. Did any of you fight the traffic, crowds, and over priced parking?

I took fasten and heard/met some really great bands.

Even got invited to some hippie market music fest that activities were questionable especially since the name of the place had sexual in it lol.
I caught some great music at the South by San Jose stage on Friday afternoon. Parked in the parking garage behind Guero's. 2 hour free parking with validation at Guero's. Easy parking and lots of great music along South Congress.
Also caught a few afternoon shows at Spider House and Stiles Switch BBQ.
Went to 2 early morning shows at The W on the KGSR Showcase
Really didn't fight much traffic. Great SX experience this year as usual.

I did it daily for over a week. have my secret parking spots and I sure am not revealing them. I did free parties all over and had a great time and no parking traumas or disasters at all. this week was my vacation an I enjoyed it. I am glad it's over so I can rest up and recover. Been doing 12 hour days of non stop music since thursday. we are so lucky to have this excellent event in our town.
I'm just happy I don't have to drive in that crap.

I'm glad they're packing up and getting the hell out of town. I just don't see the need and I join my fellow citizens calling for this clusterfuck to be moved somewhere else. It doesn't benefit the locals, our taxes don't go down, our utilities don't go down, the parks are abused but not improved.. I am pleased with the first w/e though, chilly and wet.. hopefully next time there'll be a week of cold weather, sleet, and power outages!!

I'm with you. I had a client that was 1 1/2 hours late last week. He came in from out of town and got stuck on Mopac in that mess.

Got in some good sets around town. It's always a pleasure when it's someone else driving.

I had fun, even though I was behind the scenes. I loved it. There was one night of train wrecks but hey it comes with the territory. I stayed away late at night to avoid the shootings, lol.

I slept all day yesterday, lol. I was completely depleted.

I however made some really good friends from out of town and cant wait to catch up with me for my bday during the summer.

Actually, it seemed worse this year because of the weather.

It wasnt too bad. Lines were not that long to get into the free shows and the one whole day I spent out was absolutely amazing.

I agree Texas Relays are absolutely horrible and I stay the hell away from all that

The money spent goes to Corporations who own the hotels and restaurants, and that doesn't benefit us at all.

There is one element which makes money however, and they are involved in something un-mentionable here. National Geographic Channel did a program filmed here during SXSW last year about all these creeps who come to Austin to meet the supply of all the people here for that. I think the music at SXSW is fucking aweful, just like all the music in Austin. People come just for the party, and everyone who lives here has to put up with it. Was it last year that the APD conducted a high speed chase downtown because someone didn't want to get pulled over for a traffic stop because he was behind in his child support? Anyway the APD hit the gas and the chase was on and the idiot being pursued ran down dozens of people. Most cities have rules against high speed pursuit on the highways, but here they do it downtown lol. And all over a traffic stop too. When it comes to the other things, the un-mentionable things, going on out in the open during SX the APD is hands off though, at least according to the National Geographic Channel, because it would disturb the events of SXSW.
