IMPORTANT!!! HOBBY SITES and COMPUTER SECURITY

Many of us read multiple sites. Some even read blogs or even a certain haters web site.

I recommend the following programs to protect you.

Avast
http://www.avast.com/en-us/free-antivirus-download

and

Malwarebytes.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/

I also run noscript plugin for Firefox and only turn the trust on for sites I know are clean.

I run the Full paid version of Avast Internet Security and the paid version of Malwarebytes.

Both run resident and the full versions keep you from being able to surf pages that have trojans, malware, malicious scripts, and viruses on them.

Several weeks ago, I could no longer go to a certain haters site because my security software blocked me from it. I figure there is a good reason. I do not know what malicious software has been embedded there, but I recommend that you use protection on your computer. I haven't dared to disable it just to read the contents. (I'm better off not reading it anyway).

The weirdos are after your information and having your computer properly protected will help you in the hobby from those assholes that want to do you harm.

Avast Internet Security is about $50 and Malwarebytes Pro is about $25. They also have free versions and trial version of the paid versions.

Don't be their next victim. If you are going to surf hobby sites or porn, these tools pay for themselves.

This is a public service announcement from me to you. Some of the haters sites may have malware on it. Get the proper protection.
I have a keyboard condom just for that reason

Another very nice package I have been using (insert rimshot here)....

It's called Immunet. You can get a great free version and they also have a very solid paid version. It's nice in that it will work in tandem with any existing anti-virus and anti-malware package that you have in play. It's good because it's updates are continuous whenever you're on line. Usually within a day of a new exploit/threat surfacing it's autoupdated and helping protect you. I run it on all my systems on top of normal software. Far better to be safe than sorry. It's from the guys at SourceFire , which if you're in security/geek circles you know from Snort and ClamAV. You can get it at http://www.immunet.com

I also highly recommend that all providers that have any customer information on their computers make sure they're buttoned up and playing safe.

Can you install that software on eccie.net? This site is going up and down more than a Welcome Wagon girl in the Lido downstairs theater.
