Amendment to the Computer Decency Act

Saw this on the news

CDA is getting changed

The goal of this action would be to shift some blame and liability to sites that are currently protected under the CDA where the content of the sites is uploaded by the users and not the site owners.

They name WikiPedia as an example but any site where criminal activity is knowingly allowed..

In a summation this change would mean that should a site that has user's uploading / entering content promote illegal activities (can we say BackPage) would allow the law to go after them.

I see this as a very slippery slope because I know of some web hosting people who rent out servers to people to then lease out space to escorts.. they know what sites are on those servers.. and how far will this reach go? To the person renting the server / running the site or to the hosting company that either owns or co-locates the server in their datacenter?
