It is the difference in the pronunciation of the letter "Z".
For the letter "Z"...we say...zee. But Canadians, Kiwis, Aussies, Indians and I guess most everyone who speaks "British English" say...zed....as in "doubleyou, ex, why and zed.

BTW, I am trilingual in English...lol.

I love it. Was born Canadian before becoming Texan American. The beer is a beer and a H of a lot stronger. Better American tourist draw than the Niagara Falls. Germans feel right at home downing the Canadian suds.
