Audio editing software

Anyone here ever work with audio editing programs? This is what I'm looking to do - I have some music that I'm wanting to add to a playlist at work (for general public to hear). However the songs have very small parts of explicit language and unfortunately these songs do not have censored versions that you can buy. Now I personally don't care but I know I'll hear complaints from others. So is there a program I could by where I could edit parts of the vocal? Mainly looking to just silence out the 1 or 2 words in the song.
