HOW CAN I DELETE/DEACTIVATE ACCOUNT

It was supposed to be done and yet all of a sudden I'm getting a flow of emails notifying me of PMs that are being sent to my inbox. Can someone please help me get rid of this thing please? Obviously I didn't deactivate my account properly so it didn't happen! So frustrated right now.
