Deleteing Attachments (Pictures)

I have (9) attachments that I can't delete. Typically I check the box to the right of the posted attachment hit delete and the attachment is deleted. On these nine posts the threads were closed and the ability of checking the box is gone and has been removed. How do I delete these attachments so they stop taking up space?

SL, if you can PM me links to the threads that contain those pics, I can manually delete the pics off there. Then the pic just disappears from your attachment list.
