My question is: I have a severe allergic reaction to ant bites. Late Saturday evening I was bit again. This time I just took a couple Benadryl, (at the advice of others). Swelling hasn't really gone down, and now feels like my knees are painfull like they are locking up.

Any advice???

Kay,

I couldn't help but notice your post. I'd go get seen at the clinic asap, especially since the swelling hasn't gone down.

I'm allergic to Bee Stings, so if I did get stung again, I'd need urgent care. So I understand your nervousness.

Hope you feel better soon!

P.S. I like what your Profile said about "learning to measure yourself by your strength, not pounds". That's powerful, girl!!

To gain relief from the itching and pustules that form you must neutralize the venom. One way that has worked for many people is a mixture of water and household bleach. You see bleach has an alkaline PH where as venom from the Ant is acidic. Now you seem to have a rather adverse reaction with the swelling you have described. If you are indeed allergic you may need more extensive treatment a simple home remedy like I have described may not be very affective. So use good judgment let a Doctor take a look at it or maybe even a Pharmacist can suggest something OTC.

One of my children stepped in a pile of fire ants one time and was prescribed a really strong syrup, I can't remember the name of it but it had a warning label that said "may cause dizziness." It worked immediately, you can probably be seen at a low cost clinic in whatever county you live in. Here are a couple of very useful links:
